Course Preference Form Fall 2012

Before filling out this form make sure you have affirmed the College's Code of Conduct. New students cannot register for classes until they have read and affirmed the Code. For instructions on how to do this, go to Affirm the Code.

Whether you are a first-year or transfer student, you need to complete this form.  Student records are all unique to each student, so our information has to take into consideration all possible situations.

College Credit in High School

List all Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB) or CLEP exams you have or will have completed by the end of your senior year. Please provide an estimated score for courses currently in progress.

Write the information in this format: "Exam Name 1, Score 1, Estimated Score 1" with each course on a separate line

Example: Physics B, 5, N/A

You will have either an estimated score or an actual score. Only put one number and put "N/A" for the other spot
College Credits

List ONLY the courses from your last semester of college.

Write them in this format: "College or University, Dept. Abbr., Course#, Title, Credits, Grade" with each course on a separate line

Example: XYZ Community College, ENG101, College Writing 101, 3, B

First Semester Course Preferences

Your first semester course schedule will include required courses in your major and courses from the general education curriculum.

You may not use a course offered by your major department to complete the Natural Science, Social Science, or Fine Arts Area.

Students are required to take 2 N/ lab courses from different departments

Students are required to take 2 S/ courses from different departments

You may use courses offered by your major department to complete the Non-Western Traditions (M/), Numeric/Symbolic Reasoning (R/), and U.S. History (U/) Areas. In addition, an M/, R/, or U/ course that also satisfies N/, S/, or F/ may be counted toward both areas.

Some courses may require an 85 or higher on the Course III NYS Regents Exam in Mathematics or 550 or above on the Math SAT (=ACT 23)
