Want to Bring Fair and Clean Elections to Your City, State, or the Country?
Here's how you can help...
1. Join the SUNY Geneseo Democracy Matters Chapter. During Spring 2009, we meet in the College Union in room 322-323 at 8PM every Monday.
2. Write letters to your local representatives and state representatives. Let them know how you feel about the current situation that our elections are in and let them know about the benefits of clean elections for both candidates and the general public!
3. Sign petitions, create petitions, and send petitions to bring fair and clean elections to NY. Send your petitions to local and state representatives!
4. Talk to people about fair and clean elections and the corporate control without it! Table, pass out literature, hang fliers, stand up in class and give a 2 minute club rap! Spread the word on the solution to removing corporate and private control out politics and getting people back in!
5. Write an op-ed for The Lamron or other university publishings (MiNT and LIVE magazines). Don't forget to branch out and send Op-eds to your hometown and the college town and region!
6. Register others to vote and encourage casting votes in local, state, and federal elections!
7. Host a movie night with friends, acquaintences, a class, a club..whoever!! Screen a recommended movie that involves the abuses of money in politics and then host a discussion after.
8. Get a bunch of friends together and dorm storm! Go throughout dorms on campus, bring a letter to sign or a petition to sign and get people behind our movement!
9. Get on the phone and call your state representatives. Get your friends invovled and tie up the lines at their office to show we will not stop until NY sees Fair and Clean Elections as an option!
10. Be creative! Paint, draw, write poetry, sing a song and show it off to others to show that money in politics is a real problem, a lively problem that needs attention and needs help! Record yourself performing or make a copy and send it to your local and state representatives!
