Tucked away on a quiet side street in Geneseo, Teresa House provides personal care to terminally ill patients. Every year, members of the college community contribute a substantial amount to the care facility to offer its services.
Teresa House is one of many local and other organizations and services that the college helps support during the annual State Employees Federated Appeal (SEFA), says Andrea Klein, director of campus scheduling and events and this year's SEFA coordinator.
This year, SEFA efforts began Oct. 4 and run through Nov. 4. Klein says the college hopes to raise $52,000.
"We set what I feel are realistic but challenging goals," says Klein. "Every year we have done very well in terms of reaching our goal and exceeding it."
As of Oct.17, contributions reached 44 percent of the goal, says Klein.
Volunteers in each department assist with the appeal, delivering information packets and serving as liaisons throughout the month-long effort.
