In recognition of Veterans Day, Friday, Nov. 11, Associate Professor of History James Williams will preside over a brief ceremony at the flagpole at the College Green to honor the sacrifices that all veterans have made and some continue to give. The 11 a.m. ceremony is organized by United University Professions.
Williams is a Vietnam-era veteran who was on active duty from 1974 to 1976. He served in the Army Reserves thereafter until 2000 and retired as a lieutenant colonel. In the Reserves, Wiliams twice commanded a company, once commanded a battalion, received nine medals for merit, and in his final post managed a budget for a division with 7,000 soldiers.
