Geneseo is being recognized for its outstanding academics, opportunities and value in four rankings.

  • Geneseo is noted for its academics, post-graduate student success, student satisfaction and other offerings in two respected "Best Buy" lists of higher education in the nation. The college advanced to 46th on Forbes magazine's "Top 100 Best Buy Colleges" list for 2012. Last year, Geneseo ranked 62nd. The best-buy list is calculated by taking a college's overall quality ranking and dividing that by the school's in-state tuition and fees. Geneseo moved up to 322 on the overall quality list, which ranks 650 schools. Last year Geneseo's ranking was 412 of the 2,400 degree-granting colleges in the United States. The overall quality rankings are based on five general categories, including post-graduate success and student satisfaction.
  • Geneseo is also among 41 "Best Buy Schools" named in the 2013 edition of "The Fiske Guide to Colleges," based on quality of academics in relation to the cost of attendance.

  • The Princeton Review recently named Geneseo one of the best institutions in the country for undergraduate education in the 2013 edition of its annual guide, "The Best 377 Colleges." Geneseo has been on the list for several years. About 15 percent of America's approximately 2,500 four-year colleges and three outside the country are profiled in the book, The Princeton Review's flagship college guide. It includes detailed profiles of the colleges with rating scores for all schools in eight categories, plus ranking lists of top-20 schools in the book in 62 categories based on the surveys of students attending the colleges.
  • Geneseo is 17th overall in the nation among all "master's universities" in Washington Monthly magazine's 2012 college rankings. The magazine's "master's universities" category includes schools that offer comprehensive undergraduate programs, some master's programs but few, if any, doctoral programs. Geneseo offers master's degrees in education and accounting.
