Parade magazine, a Sunday supplement distributed by numerous newspapers across the country, placed Geneseo on its "A-List" of 20 small public schools in the nation.

The Aug. 22 issue contains "A-List" schools across the country, based on recommendations from top high school counselors. The article notes that schools in Geneseo's category "combine the communal feel of a small liberal-arts college with the breadth of choice offered by a big university," and asserts that "this may be one of the very best public institutions for teaching and learning in the nation. Geneseo kids are plenty smart and want to learn."

"In the season of college rankings, it is especially pleasing to find Geneseo in the 'A-list' provided by Parade magazine," said Provost Carol S. Long. "This honor is accorded by recommendations from top high school counselors, the ones who work hard to match students to colleges and who keep careful track of student experiences once they arrive at college. Their respect for Geneseo is based upon our high academic quality and our careful mentoring of students so that they succeed here and throughout their lives."

Long says the college has received emails from alums across the country who were pleased to see the ranking and felt it was an accurate reflection of their positive experiences.
