A growing tradition since 2008, parents get an intimate look at daily life, from academics to activities in the Union on a Saturday night. Friday events include a men's soccer game and women's volleyball games and a Kaleidoscope performance of many of the college's ensembles, followed by a late-night ice-cream social presented by the Student Association and Geneseo Late Knight. On Saturday, parents can attend Parents College and learn from faculty members in a range of disciplines, from international relations and chemistry to pyschology, English, biology and mathematics. Topics include democracy promotion and post-conflict peace building, challenges and possiblities in adoptive families, and the relationship between Dante and mathematics.
Interim President Carol Long will address parents at 11 a.m. Saturday. Other Saturday events include athletic matches, demonstrations of the Pelletron particle accelerator and wave tank in the Integrated Science Center, study abroad and other workshops and a harvest dinner. Several art performances and exhbitions are also on deck, featuring the talents of faculty and students. Those include the Department of Music Honors Recital Showcase, and a Geneseo Theater Club production of "Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo."
