A new mural welcomes guests to the athletic training center on campus and showcases Geneseo's long tradition of athletics. It is one of 14 areas on campus that have new murals of photographs, signage and other enhancements.

When you walk into a Geneseo athletic facility, hockey Head Coach Chris Schultz '97 and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation  Michael Mooney want everyone to know that the college has a long, deep tradition of successful athletics.

Big, bright and powerful action shots and images that convey what it's like to be part of a team at Geneseo adorn several doors and walls of Merritt Athletic Center and other sporting hot spots.

Since then, athletics and several other college leaders have collaborated with Director of Design and College Publications Brian Bennett to add more, scouting best locations and identifying outstanding images for banners in a total of 14 areas so far, including Schrader Gym, the Alumni Pool and the ice arena.

Projects underway include a new welcome sign for the ice arena and window graphics and exterior signage for Schrader Gym.

The photographic banners and wraps help showcase Geneseo's facilities, aid in student-athlete recruitment, and develop pride for students and players, says Mooney.

"Most individuals like to look at photos which improve the team spirit and excitement surrounding the program," he says. "The items dress up the appearance of the facility and make it more attractive to the prospective student-athletes, present student-athletes, fans and the supporters of the program."
