Geneseo's Human Resources and Payroll Services Department is entering 2014 with a big pat on the back: It has earned the New York State Comptroller's Payroll Achievement Award for 2013.
That means that Geneseo is ranked number one among all state agencies in our category, which is based on volume. The department also won the Outstanding Performance Award in 2011.
"Credit for this award goes to our entire human resources and payroll staff," said Julie Briggs, assistant vice president for human resources. "It's a well-coordinated team effort to produce timely materials used to measure performance for these awards and we are all pleased with the recognition."
Briggs said it is a joint effort between departments across campus, which submit payroll documents, as well as payroll and human resources, because the award reflects efficiency. The award is based on performance measures and statewide performance standards developed by the New York State Payroll Users Group and Bureau of State Payroll Services to evaluate the performance of State agency payroll offices.
The college received the award during a Jan. 9 ceremony in Albany.
