Bhangra, the college's competitive Indian dance team, and a musical theater production produced by alumnus Michael Radi '10 will be among performances in the Rochester Fringe Festival Sept. 19-23.

Geneseo is a higher education partner for the festival, the first of its kind in Rochester. The festival features some 180 performances celebrating the performing and visual arts in the heart of Rochester's East End including an aerial performance art team, theater, dance, concerts and more.

"Geneseo is pleased to partner in this exciting Rochester arts project, which we hope will become a tradition," said President Christopher C. Dahl. "The strong support for this diverse festival of the lively arts is an indication of the value that the Rochester community places on the arts and demonstrates how such initiatives enrich our lives and enhance economic development in the region."

The Bhangra team focuses on a type of dance that comes from the Punjabi culture of Pakistan and India, originally celebrating harvest. It is now commonly performed at weddings. The team performs at a variety of campus events throughout the year in partnership with faculty adviser Professor of Theater Randy Barbara Kaplan.

Radi, a musical theater alumnus, is the composer/librettist of "PICk Love" and is musical director at the festival performances, which feature a cast from New York City, where Radi lives. Radi first produced "PICk Love" on campus as a student. It is a humorous and heartfelt look at the different stages of love.
