GENseng production closes 14th season

Geneseo's Asian American Performance Ensemble will present "Ching Chong Chinaman" May 2 through 4 as members' final production of the group's 14th season.

The play centers around the Wong family's pursuit of American identity, Asian and Asian American stereotypes, the American Dream, assimilation, acculturation, family, the importance of video games, knowing your history, and arriving at self acceptance.

Professor Randy Barbara Kaplan, artistic director of GENseng, directs the production. Several students head up production aspects of the show, including Joshua R. Horowitz '13 as assistant director and dramaturg, Kimberly Olsen '14 as choreographer and Libby McDermott '13 as stage manager with assistance from Jennie Conway '15.

  • Performances are May 2 and 3 at 7 p.m. and on May 4 at 2 p.m. in the Black Box Theatre in Brodie Hall. Tickets are $10 and available at the Student Association Box Office, by calling (585) 245-5873, or  online.
