GENseng stages final performance for the year

GENseng, Geneseo's Asian American Performance Ensemble, closes its 11th season with "And the Soul Shall Dance," featuring six student actors April 28-30.

Writer Wakako Yamauchi based her play on her own experience as the second generation daughter of Japanese immigrant farmers struggling to make a living California in the decade prior to Japanese American internment during World War II.

The production is directed by Professor Randy Barbara Kaplan with technical support from Associate Professor Johnnie Ferrell, Visiting Assistant Professor Crystal Ferrell and Associate Professor Steven Stubblefield. The show is sponsored by Professor Lynette Bosch-Burroughs and a professor and chair of classics at Case Western Reserve University, Charles Burroughs.

Shows are Thursday, April 28, at 7 p.m. and Friday, April 29, in the Black Box Theatre, Brodie Hal. The final show is Saturday, April 30, at 2 p.m. Tickets are $8 and can be purchased at the Brodie Box Office online or in person.
