The college recently won first-place awards and a Judge's Citation among all SUNY institutions in the SUNYCUAD Awards of Excellence for 2011 for its alumni magazine and U-Knight, the college's online community.
Best of Category: Alumni Programs honors were awarded to Francis Zablocki, online community manager, and members of the College Communications and Alumni Relations teams, including Amanda Lindley, graphic designer, who created U-Knight's primary logo and advertising design.
U-Knight is the umbrella brand for SUNY Geneseo's alumni online community, which increases alumni engagement online, provides new tools that alumni can use to better connect with each other and the college, and allows online event registering, networking and more.
The Geneseo Scene was awarded Best of Category for magazines. The magazine underwent a complete redesign that was unveiled in June 2009. The College Communications staff earned a Judge's Citation in 2010.
The Scene also garnered a Judge's Citation for the Fall 2010 cover feature, "Legacy of Freedom," which highlights the role Hudson Falls high school teacher Matt Rozell '83/MS '88 in capturing the experiences of World War II veterans with his Living History Project, and bringing together soldiers with the World War II prisoners they liberated from the Germans days before the war ended. The winning story package also features the remembrances of three Geneseo alumni who served in World War II.
