Professor Emeritus John McKiernan, on faculty throughout the 1950s and the creator of the college's Student Ambassador Program, is the subject of a new biography, written by his daughter, Deirdre McKiernan Hetzler. She is a national board member of the Irish American Cultural Institute. A copy of "Irish America Reawakening:The Eoin McKiernan Story," (Borealis Press, Ottowa), will be held in Milne Library.

Professor McKiernan was highly respected for his devotion to Irish studies and Irish American studies. His work is praised in anticipation of the book by Niall O'Dowd, publisher of Irish America Magazine and The Irish Voice and others, who credited him with being one of the most powerful voices in the history of the Irish in America.
