  • Four Geneseo seniors have received a 2013 Chancellor's Award for Student Excellence. The chancellor recently presented the award to the following students: Jessica Carl, Melissa Graham, Delfin Iglesia and Olivia Derella.

The Chancellor's Award for Student Excellence recognizes students who have best demonstrated, and been recognized for, the integration of academic excellence with accomplishments in the areas of leadership, athletics, community service, creative and performing arts, campus involvement or career achievement. Each recipient received a framed certificate and medallion, which is traditionally worn at commencement.

  • Faculty members recently elected 75 students to the college's chapter of Phi Beta Kappa, the nation's oldest and most widely known academic honor society. Students from the junior and senior classes are selected each spring for membership into the organization.

About 10 percent of the nation's institutions of higher learning have a Phi Beta Kappa chapter. Geneseo is the only undergraduate SUNY college with a chapter, which was created in 2004.
