  • Professor of History Emilye Crosby was recently named the recipient of the Oral History Association’s 2013 Article Award for her article, "White Privilege, Black Burden: Lost Opportunities and Deceptive Narratives in School Desegregation in Claiborne County, Mississippi.” It was published in the fall 2012 issue of Oral History Review. Crosby will receive the award at the association’s awards banquet on Oct. 12 in Oklahoma City.

  • Dozens of faculty and staff greeted students to campus on Monday, Aug. 26, and Tuesday, Aug. 27, on the Sturges Quad, College Green and in academic buildings, helping them to find their way to classes, and offering them breakfast bars and a warm welcome. Lauren Dougherty, assistant director of college union and activities, and Sarah Frank, assistant director of residence life, organized the event as a part of the Weeks of Welcome committee.
