Provost Carol Long has been appointed to the National Institute for Technology in Liberal Education's Advisory Board for 2011- 2013.
As a board member, Long will provide strategic advice to the institute to help achieve it's goals of deepening its engagement with campus leaders, building relationships with other thought leaders influencing higher education, growing the NITLE development program, and continuing to establish strategic partnerships with other organizations as appropriate. Long will meet with other board members for the first time in August at the Associated Colleges of the Midwest in Chicago.
Matt Austin, an officer with the University Police Department, was recently promoted to the rank of lieutenant. A ceremony was held Feb. 25, in which Lt. Austin was administered the oath of office.
Austin joined the Geneseo force in 2002. He served in Iraq with the 107th Air National Guard unit as an emergency management specialist, and also served in the first Gulf War from 1988 to 1991 as a nuclear, biological and chemical warfare expert.
