Lights, camera, action! An Indian television production crew is on campus this week filming segments for “College Hunt: USA,” a reality show produced jointly by the U.S. Consulate General of the United States in Mumbai and Channel V, an international television network owned by Star TV and Fox International Channels.

Geneseo is one of three college campuses in the United States to be featured in the three-part show, projected to air later this year and reach some 25 million young adults in India who may be interested in attending college in America. Geneseo was selected as an exemplar of a mid-size public liberal arts college.

The crew is following two prospective students from India for four days at Geneseo while they attend classes, visit with faculty and students, participate in activities and consider whether Geneseo is a good fit. They also visited the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and Ohio Wesleyan University.

“… It’s an ideal opportunity for them to sample life as a university student in the United States and for Geneseo to showcase some of its unique strengths,” said Mary Hope, director of international student services. “The international students on our campus have seen many successes, and we will continue to reach out to students from other countries like India interested in studying at Geneseo.”

Geneseo has a 170 international students on campus from 30 countries, about 3 percent of the student body. Ten are from India.
