music notes

Looking to start Thanksgiving celebrations early, with music? The Geneseo Symphony Orchestra, Festival Chorus, Chamber Singers, and Spectrum Women's Ensemble will unite to perform a free public concert on Sunday, Nov. 24 at 3 p.m. in Wadsworth Auditorium.

Jim Tiller, a music department lecturer and principal percussionist for the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, will conduct the first part of the program: Verdi's "Overture to Nabucco." The Spectrum Women's Ensemble will join the orchestra for a performance of Kirke Mechem's "Seven Joys of Christmas," an arrangement of seasonal carols.

For the second part of the program, Professor of Music Gerard Floriano '84, will direct the Geneseo Festival Chorus and Chamber Singers performing Mozart's "Requiem." This unfinished piece by Mozart was completed in 1792 and featured in the 1984 Milos Forman film "Amadeus." The piece will feature student soloists Jane Coons, Dalya Kefi, Rahul Thandla, Greg Palermo, Alex Imbrosci and Kirsten Freiman, and community members Elizabeth Kimball, Michael Capel and Eric Trumpowsky.
