Small Business Development Center welcomes new director


The Small Business Development Center at Geneseo has a new director —Paul J. Morrell.

The center provides one-on-one counseling services and group training for the public that are either free or very low cost.

"This is a tremendous opportunity for me and I'm looking forward to offering my expertise," said Morrell. "Our job is to help entrepreneurs see all the possibilities to make them successful. We offer tools and information for start-up, successful operation and expansion of small businesses. Our work reinforces individual enterprise and promotes economic development in New York."

Morrell brings more than 20 years of experience in sales, marketing and engineering experience in the private sector, having served as a sales and marketing director for several companies. He also has international business development experience in the aerospace, telecom and manufacturing industries. As executive director of Morrell Associates, he has provided consulting expertise in sales, marketing, government relations, business development, real estate development, engineering and technical training services. In addition, he held several management positions in Rochester City Hall and served as acting commissioner of economic development for the Duffy administration and for the City of Rochester, promoting economic development initiatives for real estate, neighborhood, industrial and high-tech clients.

Morrell has a master's degree in applied mathematical statistics with a dual concentration in industrial statistics and quality control. He has a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering technology with a minor in managerial economics, and an associate in science degree in mechanical technology.
