Student Employment

Working a part-time job while you are in school can offer:

  • The chance to put some spending money in your pocket;
  • New work experiences, often in areas related to your skills, interests, and career aspiration; and
  • The opportunity to meet new people, including academic and professional staff on campus.

  

Federal Work-Study

The Office of Financial Aid administers the Federal Work-Study Program. To be considered for Work-Study, you must complete the Free Application For Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on a timely basis (for prospective freshmen and transfers – February 15, and for returning students – March 1. You must also demonstrate need for the award.

If you are awarded Work-Study, we will ask you to complete a short form that allows you to tell us what work experience and interests you have. Based on that information we will assign you to a Work-Study position. Work-Study includes:

  • Over 400 positions throughout campus in some 70 academic departments and administrative offices;
  • Placement in community service positions located off-campus;
  • Typical work schedule of 10 to 12 hours per week;
  • A bi-weekly paycheck for the hours you work – you can choose to pay any balance due on your student account, but we are required to issue you a paycheck rather than directly crediting your account; and
  • Summer Work-Study opportunities.

If you demonstrated financial need for Work-Study but weren’t offered an award, you can complete a Wait-List Application during the first two weeks of each semester.
