Rohypnol (Flunitrazepam), aka Roofies, Roaches, La Rocha, Rope, Mexican Valium
Rohypnol is a drug that has been marketed commercially in other
countries and is available as a street drug in the US. It is 7-10 times
more potent than traditional sedatives such as Valium. Rohypnol has a
rapid onset of action (15-20 minutes) and a 4-6 hour duration. It
frequently causes anterograde amnesia, or loss of memory for events
which occurred after taking the drug. It is particularly dangerous to
mix Rohypnol with alcohol or other drugs and can lead to death. Rohypnol
is usually found in tablet form. but it can be ground into a powder or
come in a liquid form as well.
GHB (Gamma-hydroxybutyrate), aka Grevious Bodily Harm, Liquid X (or E), Liquid Ecstasy
GHB is another sedative-hypnotic with a rapid onset (15 minutes) and a
duration of 1.5- 2 hours. It produces both sedation and respiratory
depression, but it can also cause vomiting, delirium, slowed heart rate,
agitation, hypothermia, anterograde amnesia, and seizures (rare).
Overdose deaths have been reported both with and without alcohol. GHB is
a clear liquid that is both colorless and odorless, although it can be
recognized by its slightly salty taste.
