Steve Benchik

Steve Benchik joined Geneseo in September of 1996 as the associate director of facilities services, where he provided leadership for the core trades, heating plant, general plant maintenance, and garage functions for over 13 years.  Steve is a mechanical engineer by trade and is highly regarded for his technical competence, ability to analyze situations, and provide solid solutions to difficult problems.

During his tenure at Geneseo, Steve was a mainstay in the energy conservation program. He was heavily involved in the decision-making process for fuel purchases, accounting for hundreds of thousands of dollars in savings to the college each year.  Since retirement, Steve has been hitting the ski slopes.  He continues to provide ski instruction at Bristol Mountain, his “home away from home.”  When the snow is not flying, Steve also enjoys bike riding and camping with his family at their place in the Adirondack Mountains.  We thank Steve for his many contributions to the campus.

Deborah Lambert

Deborah Lambert joined Geneseo in 1993 as a keyboard specialist in the student accounts department where she dedicated 16 years of service.  In 1998, she was promoted to department secretary and continued to serve the student accounts office until her retirement in the fall of 2009.  Debbie was noted as a highly dependable staff member who delivered outstanding service to our students, their parents and to all college departments.  Debbie loved a challenge.  She was affectionately known as “Snoop Debbie Dog” for her ability to research information and solve problems.

In retirement, Debbie is busy sewing, traveling, and spending time with her husband Bob, who also retired from Geneseo just a year and a half ago.  We thank Debbie for her many contributions to SUNY Geneseo and for the care and concern she provided to our students over the past 16 years.

Linda Erwin

Linda Erwin began working in Milne Library as a typist in 1976 and retired at the end of April 2009 as a calculations clerk in the accounting office where she coordinated travel for our faculty and staff.  Linda worked in many departments at Geneseo during her tenure, including Milne Library, the mail room, central stores, student accounts, and culminating her career in the accounting office.  In 2006, Linda received the Gloria and Van Quaal Outstanding Quality Service Award, which is a prestigious award in the division of administration and finance. This award recognizes classified service staff who have made a recognizable and meaningful impact at the College and who serves as a role model for others.

Since her retirement, Linda has continued to serve Geneseo by filling the gap in the travel office until her successor was hired.  Linda also plans to spend time during her retirement by traveling and playing golf with Tom, her husband, as well as spending time with her grandchildren.  We thank Linda for her ongoing commitment to the College.
