I am very pleased to be working with the office of International Student & Scholar Services this semester! I am extremely passionate about working with international students, whether it is through tutoring, conducting research or leading cultural events. While I’m not sure if I would rather pursue graduate studies for teaching ESL students in a classroom or working in the administrative sector, this internship has definitely made me aware of the advantages of working at the administrative level.

Over the past four years, I have truly grown attached to SUNY Geneseo and couldn’t be happier with my undergraduate experience. I was given educational and extracurricular opportunities that most schools do not offer to students, which really made my time here unique and rewarding. Last semester, I completed an in-depth research paper on the perceptional and communication differences between international and American students. While it took countless hours of research and analysis, I formed various solutions to help bring American and international students closer together and understand each other on a deeper level. Through this internship, I was given the opportunity to turn these ideas into reality! My hard work definitely paid off and I am so proud of what I accomplished thus far.

Aside from my work with international students, I am usually hanging out with friends, doing work for class, or volunteering for a community service project. My sophomore year, I joined Alpha Phi Omega which is a co-ed service club where students complete a minimum of 24 hours of service every semester. I have made some incredible friends through this club and took part in very fulfilling service projects that improved the Geneseo and Rochester communities. If you want to get involved with community service projects, Geneseo offers many ways to do so!

As graduation quickly approaches, I am becoming more and more sad about leaving SUNY Geneseo. However, I am very excited for the future and plan to teach abroad next fall. I am confident that my time here has prepared me for my educational and professional journey ahead!
