ECAC Division III Swimming & Diving Championships

Women's Swimming & Diving

The women's swimming and diving team traveled to East Meadow, New York for the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III championships as the defending champions and won their second straight title with 1,737 points. Stevens Institute of Technology finished second with 1,643. Junior Kelly Young won both diving events for the Blue Wave with a school record score of 361. 80 on the one-meter board and 351.60 points on the three-meter board. First year Meghan Green won the 1,650-yard freestyle in an NCAA provisional time of 17:44.06, setting a school record in the 1,000 split with a time of 10:41.84 and won the 500 freestyle with an NCAA provisional time of 5:06.33, just ahead of junior Michelle Rodriguez, who posted a provisional time of 5:06.65. First year Kaitlin Wilcoxen and senior Sierra Achin finished 1-2 in the 200 breast with an NCAA provisional time of 2:26.22 and a time of 2:26.92, respectively. Wilcoxen placed second in the 100 breast in 1:09.13, senior Liz Krause was second in the 100 back in 1:01.80 and junior Jennifer Anthone was second in the 100 fly in 59.78 and second in the 50 free in 24.96. In the 100 freestyle, Geneseo claimed the #2-5 positions with Rodriguez racing to an NCAA provisional time of 52.75, Anthone posting a 54.25, first year Elyssa Max touching in 55.06 and senior Katie Linehan finishing in 55.36. In the 400 I.M., senior Natalie Thorpe placed second in the 200 IM with a time of 2:13.74 and led a second-third-fourth finish with a time of 4:43.13 as Green posted a 4:47.98 and Max swam a 4:50.39. In addition, Geneseo won the 400 medley relay as Krause, Wilcoxen, Anthone and Rodriguez swam a 4:02.43 and had four relays finish in second place as the 200 free relay of Anthone, Colleen Halbohn, Linehan and Rodriguez finished in 1:39.39, the 200 medley relay team of Krause, Achin, Anthone and Rodriguez posted a time of 1:51.28, the 400 free relay of Anthone, Linehan, Max and Rodriguez finished in 3:35.91 and the 800 free relay team of Green, Max, Anthone and Rodriguez swam an NCAA provisional time of 7:48.65. Geneseo is off for the semester break and returns to action at Monroe Community College on Thursday, January 14, 2010.

Men's Swimming & Diving

The men's swimming and diving team, the defending ECAC champions, participated at the ECAC Division III championships in East Meadow, New York and finished second to Stevens Institute of Technology, 1,555.50 points to 1,401. Junior Wills DeMoulin finished second on both boards for the Blue Wave with a score of 401.00 on the three-meter and 391.50 on the one-meter. Senior Sean Kennedy was second in the 200 fly with a time of 1:58.43, sophomore Josh Kaplan placed second in the 100 back with a time of 53.41, sophomore Aaron Wagner placed second in the 200 IM in 1:59.43 and sophomore Ken Pink placed third in the 100 breast in 1:00.19. The Blue Wave had a pair of relays finish second as the 200 free relay of Wagner, Frank Schiappa, Dan Strothenke and Andrew Kuter swam a 1:26.38 and the 200 medley relay team of Kaplan, Pink, Wagner and Kuter finished second in 1:36.76. Geneseo is off for the semester break and returns to action at Monroe Community College on Thursday, January 14, 2010.
