The men's basketball team completed their west coast swing with a 75-63 loss at Western Washington University, currently ranked 16th in NCAA Division II. In the first half, the contest was tied at five before the Vikings scored 14 straight points to open a 19-5 lead. Western Washington grew the advantage to 23 points at 38-15, but Geneseo's Mike Baker hit a half-court shot at the buzzer of the first half to cut the lead to 42-26. In the second stanza, the Blue Knights opened on a 9-2 run to pull within nine at 44-35, but could get no closer the rest of the way. Western Washington led by as many as 19 in the second half at 58-39, before Geneseo closed to the 12-point final. Senior Brandon Simpson scored 19 points on 9-21 shooting with 13 rebounds to pace Geneseo. Senior Kyle Stevens netted 10 points and five boards, sophomores Abe Miller and John Drazan scored eight points apiece and Baker finished with seven points. The Knights fall to 1-5 on the season and travel to Brockport on Tuesday.
