Women's Soccer Wins Prestigious NSCAA Award

The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) announced that the SUNY Geneseo Women's Soccer team, and head coach Nate Wiley, are one of only nine Division I, II, III, Junior College and NAIA men's or women's programs to receive a 2009 NSCAA Team Ethics Gold Award. The Gold standard for the Team Ethics award is reserved for collegiate soccer teams displaying the utmost in sportsmanship by receiving no yellow or red cards during the season.

In the State University of New York Athletic Conference, SUNY Potsdam's women's team joined Geneseo as a recipient. The Bears earned a Silver standard award for receiving five or less yellow cards and no red cards.

In New York State, NAIA institution Houghton College received Gold standard, while Silver awards were conferred upon women's teams from Hilbert, Jamestown Community College-Cattaraugus, SUNY Cobleskill, SUNYIT and Suffolk.
