The women's basketball team traveled to Buffalo State tonight and raced to a 66-45 win as junior Khadija Campbell made 7-11 from the field, 2-2 from the arc and 3-3 from the line for a career-high 19 points. Junior Brittany Finkle added a career-best 14 points off the bench on 6-9 from the floor and 2-2 from long distance and junior Alyssa Polosky finished with nine points, nine rebounds, four steals, three assists and three blocks. Geneseo led by as many as 10 in the opening period and carried a 35-27 advantage into the intermission. The Blue Knights extended their lead to 26 in the second half, shooting 47% for the game. Geneseo moves to 7-6 overall and 3-3 in SUNYAC and host Potsdam on Friday at 6 p.m.
The men's basketball team traveled to Buffalo State and fell to the Bengals by a score of 77-64 as the Blue Knights could not recover from a 39-30 halftime deficit. Geneseo trailed by as many as 20 points in the second half but got no closer than the final score as the Knights netted the final seven points of the contest. Senior Brandon Simpson scored 10 points with five rebounds and three assists to lead the offense and senior Kyle Stevens added nine points and five boards. Senior Jason Segarra came off the bench to make a pair of long-distance shots and two free throws for eight points, while senior Jordan Blair, junior Mike Baker and sophomore Abe Miller netted seven points apiece in a balanced attack. The Blue Knights fall to 3-10 overall and 2-4 in SUNYAC and hosts Potsdam on Friday at 8 p.m.
