The women's basketball team handed Fredonia their first home loss in eight contests this season by downing the Devils, 58-52. Sophomore Bri Dunton scored 14 points with five rebounds, four assists and three steals to pace the Knights and junior Alyssa Polosky went 4-5 from the floor, 3-4 from the arc and 2-2 from the line for 13 points. Junior Brittany Finkle scored 11 points and five boards and junior Khadija Campbell added seven points and a game-high 12 rebounds. Geneseo led 22-20 at half, but trailed 29-28 with 11:56 left before mounting a 16-3 spurt over six minutes to take control of the game. The Blue Devils closed within three points, but Dunton hit her lone three-pointer of the game with 1:26 to play to give Geneseo a 52-46 lead. The Blue Knights move to 10-6 overall and 6-3 in SUNYAC and host Oswego on Friday at 6 p.m.
The men's basketball team traveled to Fredonia and dropped a 65-62 decision as the Blue Devils benefited from four Geneseo turnovers in the final 1:26 to hold on for the three-point win after senior Kyle Stevens converted a three-point play to bring the Knights within one point at 63-62. Sophomore Abe Miller led Geneseo with 15 points on 7-8 shooting as the Knights could not recover from a 35-29 halftime deficit. Senior Brandon Simpson added 15 points with six rebounds on 6-17 shooting from the field and 3-4 from the line, Stevens contributed 12 points and junior Mike Baker totaled 11 points on 4-6 from the floor, 1-1 from the arc and 2-2 at the charity stripe. The Knights fall to 4-12 overall and 3-6 in SUNYAC and host Oswego on Friday at 8 p.m.
