The women's basketball team opened the second half with a 10-2 run after leading 31-30 at the intermission and exploded for 43 second-half points to down the visiting Fredonia Blue Devils, 74-55. Junior Khadija Campbell led three double-figure scorers with 17 points on 8-12 shooting, sophomore Bri Dunton hit 8-8 from the line on her way to 15 points and sophomore Katelyn Charbonneau hit 4-7 from the arc for 12 points with a game-high eight rebounds for the Blue Knights. First year Melissa Graham added seven points and seven rebounds and four assists and junior Melissa Loughlin added six points and seven boards. Geneseo made five of seven from long range during the second half outburst and won the rebound battle, 45-36. The Knights move to 13-10 overall and 9-7 in SUNYAC and travel to Plattsburgh on Friday.
The men's basketball team hosted Fredonia tonight and fell by a score of 66-58 as the Blue Devils hit 16-23 (69.6%) from the free throw line, while Geneseo made 14-28 (50%). In the first half, the Blue Knights led 8-3 early, but Fredonia used a 13-3 run late in the half to lead 31-22 with 1:31 to play on the way to a five-point lead at the intermission. In the second half, Geneseo trailed by as many as seven points and led briefly at 45-44 on a pair of free throws by Mike Hoy with 7:31 left, however, Fredonia scored six straight to retake command of the contest. Sophomore Abe Miller paced Geneseo with 15 points on 6-8 from the floor with 10 rebounds, senior Kyle Stevens finished with 14 points and Hoy contributed eight points. Geneseo falls to 7-16 overall and 6-10 in SUNYAC and travels to Plattsburgh on Friday.
