The men's lacrosse team, ranked 15th in this week's USILA Coaches Poll, opened the season with a 10-5 win over host Union College. Senior face-off specialist Erik Baranowski, who won 12-18 with 10 groundballs, won the opening face-off and scored seven seconds into the game to vault the Knights to a 4-1 lead after one period. Geneseo extended their advantage to 7-2 at intermission and led 10-4 after three quarters. Sophomore transfer Jeff Watson had a goal and four assists to pace the attack and sophomore Evan Bryant collected three goals. Sophomore Brendan Kurpis and first year Tim Hayden scored two goals each and junior Craig Lange added a single tally. Senior Dennis Costanza made 10 saves in posting the win in goal. Geneseo takes on #14 Nazareth College on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Monroe Community College.
