The women's softball team hosted Hilbert College today and swept the doubleheader, taking the first game by a score of 8-4 and the second game by 9-4. In the opener, Geneseo trailed 4-1 after three innings before erupting for five runs in the fourth. Sophomore KK Schaus, who finished 2-4 with two runs and an RBI, started the rally with a solo homerun. Senior Karen Wagner was 2-3 with two RBI and senior Katie Holm went 2-3 with an RBI. Sophomore Janine Montera allowed five hits with eight strikeouts and four unearned runs as Geneseo committed six errors. In the second game, Wagner hit a two-run homer, first year Jess Steubing was 3-4 with a run and an RBI and junior Sam Guarrera finished 2-4 with a run and an RBI. Sophomore Mary Bostwick went the distance in the circle, allowing five hits with nine strikeouts and four unearned runs. Geneseo is 7-5 on the season and opens the SUNYAC schedule by hosting Buffalo State on Friday at 3 p.m.
