Student Athletes Named to Phi Beta Kappa

Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society

Faculty members at the State University of New York at Geneseo have elected 76 students to the college's chapter of Phi Beta Kappa, the nation's oldest and most widely known academic honor society, including five student-athletes. Students from the junior and senior classes are selected each spring for membership into the organization.

Student-athletes elected in 2010 include seniors Brittany Frankel (Pine Plains, N.Y./Stissing Mtn./Women's Track & Field), Patrick Gallagher (Warwick, N.Y./Warwick Valley/Men's Track & Field), Joey Mort (Rochester, N.Y./McQuaid/Men's Soccer), Kristin Shumway (Potsdam, N.Y./Potsdam/Women's Track & Field) and Eddie Watts (Mt. Kisco, N.Y./Horace Greeley/Men's Lacrosse).

Geneseo is the only undergraduate SUNY college with a Phi Beta Kappa chapter, one of only 276 chapters in the nation. The Geneseo chapter was created in 2004 and 27 current or former student-athletes have been inducted since inception.
