The fourth-ranked Cortland Red Dragons scored three goals in the fourth quarter, including the game winner with 43 seconds left, to come back from a 3-1 deficit and defeat #9 Geneseo by a score of 4-3. Sophomore Brendan Kurpis scored once in the first quarter, on an assist from junior Craig Lange, and once in the second stanza with 1:38 to play as the Blue Knights led 2-1 at the intermission. Geneseo took a 3-1 lead with 3:26 left the third quarter when Lange scored from first year Tim Hayden. Cortland cut the lead to one just 40 seconds into the fourth quarter and tied the game with 5:42 to play. Geneseo had the ball in the final minute, but a turnover gave possession to the Red Dragons, who scored the game-winner on the fast break transition. Senior Dennis Costanza made 16 saves in a spectacular effort in nets for the Blue Knights, junior defender Joe May scooped eight groundballs and senior Erik Baranowski collected five of 10 faceoff opportunities. Geneseo falls to 7-2 overall and 2-1 in SUNYAC and hosts Plattsburgh on Saturday at 1 p.m.
