Geneseo senior Bree Crossett hit an RBI double to score junior Sam Guarrera, who reached on an error, in the bottom of the ninth inning to complete a come-from-behind victory, 3-2, in game one of a doubleheader sweep over Nazareth College. Nazareth's Brittany Patenaude gave the Golden Flyers a 2-0 lead with a two-run homer in the top of the first inning after Kelley Horbal walked to start the game. Geneseo tied the game in the bottom of the sixth inning. Sophomore KK Schaus led off with a double and senior Katie Holm hit her second double of the game to drive in Schaus. After a pair of outs, first year Jess Steubing delivered an RBI double to tie the contest and force extra innings. Junior Janine Montera scattered four hits and five walks with 15 strikeouts to post the win for Geneseo. Nazareth's Kelly Kocher was the hard-luck loser after allowing six hits, one walk and two earned runs with a school-record 19 strikeouts. In the second game, Schaus went 2-4 with two runs and two RBI to lead the Knights to a 4-3 win. In the first inning, Schaus singled home sophomore Kelsey Ogden, who had led off the game with a triple, and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Megan Pogemiller for a 2-0 lead. The Flyers scored single runs in the second and fourth to tie the game, but Geneseo got two runs in the bottom of the fourth frame to provide the winning margin. Schaus doubled to score Molly Walsh, who had walked and moved to second on a sacrifice, and then scored on a single by Holm. Nazareth added an unearned run in the seventh for the final. Nazareth's Katie Valerio went 2-3 with a run and an RBI and Casey Mathers took the loss after allowing 11 hits, four earned runs and one walk with three strikeouts. For Geneseo, Steubing and Lexi Williams each went 2-3 and sophomore Mary Bostwick scattered four hits and allowed one earned run with seven strikeouts. The Knights move to 16-12 on the season and travel to Potsdam on Friday.
