The women's softball team erupted for four runs on five hits in the sixth inning to score a come-from-behind win over host Medaille College in game one of a doubleheader split, 6-4. Geneseo trailed 2-0 before scoring two runs in the top of the fifth inning to tie the game. Junior Sam Guarrera singled home sophomore Kelsey Ogden, who finished 2-3 with two runs, and first year Stef Rosenberg, who was 3-3 with a run, an RBI and a triple. The Mavericks reclaimed the lead with two runs in the bottom of the fifth. Geneseo opened the sixth with a double by first year Jess Steubing, who scored on an RBI double by senior Bree Crossett. Geneseo completed the scoring on singles by Mary Bostwick, Ogden and Rosenberg. Bostwick scattered seven hits and allowed three earned runs with three walks and seven strikeouts to earn the win. In the second game, Geneseo got an RBI single from Ogden in the first inning, but the Mavericks scored five runs in the bottom of the first on the way to an 8-1 win. Guarrera went 1-3 with a double. First year Alexa Salzman got her first collegiate start, allowing seven hits, seven runs, five earned with three strikeouts in three innings and Katie Gallagher came on in relief and allowed one run on two hits with three strikeouts in three innings. Geneseo runs their record to 20-14 on the year and hosts RIT on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
