Outdoor Track & Field
The outdoor track and field team traveled to the Oneonta Last Chance meet tonight and the men's team had one automatic and four provisional qualifying performances. Sophomore Wenley Louis posted an automatic qualifying distance of 7.31 meters in winning the long jump and finished second in the triple jump with a provisional distance of 14.49 meters. Junior Eric Rickman won the shot put with a provisional toss of 15.69 meters, sophomore Nwana Okafor finished third in the long jump with a provisional performance of 7.06 meters and junior Ryan O'Connor posted a provisional time of 3:52.50 in the 1,500 meters. Seniors Tim Chichester and Jesse Berube placed second in 14:50.13 and sixth in 15:39.11, respectively, in the 5,000 meters. Senior Ken Wickey placed second in the shot put with a toss of 15.03 meters, senior Andrew Sorrento was third in the hammer throw (51.82 m) and Colin Keenan placed third in the high jump with 1.86 meters. Sophomore Lee Berube was seventh in the 1,500 (3:53.16), junior Mark Streb was ninth in 3:53.86 and senior Lee Gabler was 12th in 3:58.23, while Greg Izzo finished fifth in the 400 hurdles in 55.82.
On the women's side, graduate student Maggie Morris placed second in the 1,500 meters in 4:40.98, junior Maria Barbaglia was third in the hammer throw with a toss of 43.24 and sophomore Alyssa Smith was fourth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 11:19.29.
National qualifiers Lee Berube, Chichester, Louis, O'Connor and first year Marissa Liberati travel to the NCAA Division III championships at Baldwin Wallace College in Berea, Ohio on May 27-29.
