Women's Field Hockey
The women's field hockey team erupted for five goals in a 5-1 victory over the host Houghton Highlanders this afternoon. Senior Michelle Milkovich assisted the opening goal by first year Kim Sherman at 8:10, scored an unassisted goal at 20:31 and converted a penalty stroke at 59:27 to pace the Geneseo attack. Senior Erin Zalewski fed senior Stephanie Maisonet for her first goal of the season at 50:07 to give Geneseo a 3-0 lead. Houghton ended sophomore Caitlyn Dowell's shutout bid just 21 seconds after Maisonet's goal. First year Kayla DeAngelis notched her team-high third of the season to complete the scoring at the 70:00 mark. Dowell stopped three shots to earn the win as Geneseo moves to 2-1 on the season. The Blue Knights host Oneonta at 4 p.m. on Friday.
The women's volleyball team traveled to Rochester and dropped a three-set match, 25-19, 25-19, 25-16. First year Noelle Morrison handed out 29 assists to lead the attack. Senior Krista Frieling had 10 kills and junior Kat Strickland added five kills and four blocks. Sophomore Laura Galvin contributed 13 digs, while Ronnie Guszcza and Megan Reed had five kills each. The Knights fall to 4-6 on the season and travel to the RIT tournament on Friday and Saturday.
