The women's volleyball team hosted Ithaca tonight and lost a four-set match to the Bombers, 25-14, 25-17, 24-26, 25-9. In the opening set, Ithaca broke open a 3-3 contest with a 9-3 run to take command. The Bombers used a 6-2 run in the second set to take the lead for good at 12-8. In the third set, the match was tied at five when Kat Strickland provided consecutive blocks to give the Knights a two-point lead. Geneseo controlled the contest until the Bombers scored three points in a row for a 22-22 tie. An Ithaca blocking error tied the game at 24, a Bomber hitting error gave the Knights a 25-24 lead and first year Ronnie Guszcza finished the game with a service ace. Ithaca finished the final set on a 15-2 run to gain the victory. Senior Krista Frieling led Geneseo with 15 kills and first year Noelle Morrison handed out 30 assists. Strickland finished with seven kills, sophomore Laura Galvin totaled 14 digs and sophomore Megan Reed added five kills and five blocks. The Blue Knights fall to 5-10 on the season and host SUNYAC West round robin play on Friday and Saturday.
