Men's Ice Hockey
First year forward Rich Manley and junior defenseman Jake Yard scored two goals apiece to lead the ninth-ranked men's hockey team to a 4-2 win over #5 Hamline today in the first game of the Adrian College Classic in Adrian, Michigan. After a scoreless first period, Hamline opened the scoring on the power play at 17:46, but Manley netted his first of the game from linemates Jonathan Redlick and Zachary Vit with only 14 seconds left in the second frame. Geneseo took a 2-1 lead with a power play goal of their own as Yard scored from juniors Stefan Decosse and David Arduin at 5:08, but the Pipers responded with the tying goal at 12:32. Manley netted the game-winner on the power play from Redlick and VIt at 16:29 and Yard added an empty-netter at 19:36 from partner Blake O'Connor to complete the scoring. Sophomore Adrian Rubeniuk made 20 saves to post the win in nets as Geneseo moves to 7-1-2 on the season. The Ice Knights continue with the Adrian Classic by taking on Wisconsin Eau-Claire on Saturday at 3 p.m. The Blugolds defeated the host and nationally seventh-ranked Bulldogs by a score of 4-3 in overtime in today's second game.
