Men's Swimming & Diving
The men's swimming and diving team finished second to Stevens Institute (2,003.5 points) with 1,212 points at the ECAC Winter Championships in East Meadow, N.Y. Geneseo's Ken Pink highlighted the performances for Geneseo as he won the 100 breast in 58.56, finished third in the 200-yard breast in an NCAA Division III provisional qualifying time of 2:06.59, swam fourth in the 200 IM in 1:56.39, placed fifth in the 400 IM in 4:15.58 and was part of the 200-yard medley relay team that turned in a second place time of 1:35.13 and the 400 medley team that was third in 3:33.70 with Josh Kaplan, Aaron Wagner and Dan Strothenke. Senior Wills DeMoulin led a diving group that placed three in the top five positions of the three-meter as he was second with 445.85 points. First year Gian Villegas was fourth with 387.90 and Brandon Peifer finished fifth with a score of 322.90. In addition, Kaplan was fourth in the 200 back in 1:57.94 and fourth in the 100 back in 53.47, Nate Foley finished fifth in the 1,650 free in 16:37.74, CJ Schaub was third in the 100 breast in 59.82 and fifth in the 200 breast in 2:12.18 and Frank Schiappa and Strothenke finished third (21.26) and fifth (21.39), respectively, in the 50 free. Geneseo is off for the semester break and returns to action on Friday, January 14 when they host RIT and New Paltz.
Women's Swimming & Diving
The women's swimming and diving team finished in third place with 1,470 points at the 2010 ECAC Winter championships in East Meadow, N.Y. Division I Stony Brook won with 1,592.5, just a half point ahead of Stevens Institute's 1,592 points. Senior Michelle Rodriguez earned Female Swimmer of the Meet after winning the 100-yard freestyle with an NCAA Division III automatic qualifying and meet-record time of 51.15, winning the 200 free in an NCAA provisional and meet-record time of 1:51.44 and taking the 500 free in a provisional and meet record time of 5:01.17. In addition, she anchored the second place 800 freestyle relay team with Jennifer Anthone, Meghan Green and Elyssa Max to an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 7:44.48, the 400 freestyle relay team with Anthone, Linda Chang and Max to a provisional time of 3:33.51 and the 400 medley relay team with Lauren Boyce, Kaitlin Wilcoxen and Lily Powell to a third-place time of 3:58.99. Geneseo's Cassie Brown was the Female Diver of the Meet after she won the one-meter diving event with 356.25 points and was second in the three-meter with a score of 334.85, while Emily Wanamaker placed third on the short board with a score of 340.75. Green finished second by .03 in the 1,650 freestyle with a time of 17:41.79 and fifth in the 500 free in 5:10.66, Wilcoxen placed third in the 200 breast with a time of 2:25.45 and fourth in the 100 breast in 1:07.92 and Chang finished fifth in the 50 free in 24.85. The Blue Wave is off until January 14, when they host New Paltz and RIT.
