Learfield Directors Cup
The National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) released the current standings for the NCAA Division III Learfield Directors Cup and the Geneseo Blue Knights stand tied with Cortland in 18th place of 166 scoring institutions with 148 points. There are approximately 440 institutions in Division III vying for Directors Cup points.
The Learfield Sports Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's NCAA Division III championship finish in up to 18 sports -- nine women's and nine men's.
Geneseo is ranked third of the New York State schools, behind New York University (13th) and St. Lawrence (17th), but ahead of Rochester (32), Hobart/William Smith (T50), Skidmore (T50) and Ithaca (T54). The Knights received 69 points for seventh place in men's cross country, 54 points for 12th place in women's cross country and 25 points for a tie for 17th place in field hockey.
Six of the seven fall sports have been completed in the academic year-long competition. The final fall standings are scheduled for release on December 23.
