Senior Brittany Finkle scored 13 points on 6-9 from the field and 1-3 from the line with seven rebounds and four steals to lead the Geneseo women's basketball team to a 60-43 win over host Plattsburgh. The Blue Knights held a slim 31-27 lead at the break, but quickly assumed command in the second half. Sophomore Melissa Graham scored 12 points with seven caroms and senior Alyssa Polosky added 11 points, seven boards and four assists for the Blue Knights. Geneseo moves to 7-2 overall and 2-0 in SUNYAC and travels to Potsdam on Saturday.
Men's Ice Hockey
First year Rich Manley scored a goal and three assists to lead the eighth-ranked Geneseo men's ice hockey team to an 8-2 win over visiting Franklin Pierce tonight. Junior David Arduin and first year Zachary Vit netted a goal and two assists for the Ice Knights as they outscored the Ravens by a 4-1 count in the first and second periods before a scoreless third stanza. Senior Michael Forgione scored at the 1:42 mark of the first to start the barrage for Geneseo, junior Jake Yard made it 2-0 at 6:35 and junior Clint Olson scored at 13:21 to make it 3-1. First year Carson Schell scored his second of the campaign at 13:29 of the second period for a 7-1 lead and first year Ryan Goldberg netted his first of his Ice Knight career at 14:37 to complete the scoring. Sophomore Adrian Rubeniuk made two saves in the first period and senior Michael Battaglia stopped 20 shots in two periods in nets as Geneseo won the shot battle, 78-24. Geneseo moves to 9-3-2 on the season and the two teams meet again on Saturday at 7 p.m.
The Geneseo men's basketball team traveled to #22 Plattsburgh tonight and dropped a 73-51 decision to the nationally-ranked Cardinals. Plattsburgh raced to a 40-15 lead at the intermission and never looked back as Geneseo got no closer than 19 points in the second half at 63-44 with 6:04 remaining. Sophomore Ryan Riefenhauser scored 12 points on 6-12 from the floor with eight rebounds to lead the Blue Knights. Junior John Drazan made 3-4 from the line on his way to seven points and junior Abe Miller scored six points with a team-best 10 rebounds. First year Matt Curry added seven points and first year Lamont Stokes hit both of his shots for four points with five boards and three steals. Geneseo falls to 6-3 overall and 0-2 in SUNYAC and travels to Potsdam on Saturday.
