Men's Ice Hockey
The Geneseo men's ice hockey team held on to defeat the Potsdam Bears this afternoon by a score of 4-3 in a game that was postponed last night due to an ice surface issue in Potsdam with Geneseo leading 3-1 at the end of the first period. In the first period last night, Geneseo took the lead just 36 seconds into the frame on a goal by Stefan Decosse with assists to David Arduin and Ryan Bulach. Geneseo made it 2-0 at 4:04 when sophomore defenseman Brandon Angotti scored the first of his career from Andrew Rygiel and Trevor Elliott. After Potsdam scored a power play goal at 7:02, Bulach scored on a rebound on the power play at 11:02 with Jake Yard and Jimmy Powers getting helpers. The game resumed this afternoon at Clarkson University and the Ice Knights extended to 4-1 when Jonathan Redlick netted a power play goal from Zachary Vit and Colin de Jersey at the 6:00 mark of the second stanza. The Bears got goals in the third period at 58 seconds and 11:13, but Geneseo's defense made the lead stand. Sophomore Adrian Rubeniuk made 21 saves in running his record to 7-1-1 on the season. The Ice Knights move to 12-5-2 overall and 6-3-1 in SUNYAC and host Morrisville on Saturday at 4 p.m.
