The Geneseo men's lacrosse team, ranked 13th in the latest USILA Division III Coaches Poll, scored the final 11 goals of the game in defeating host Lycoming (Pa.) by a score of 14-4 in their season-opening contest. Senior attack Craig Lange scored two goals and three assists for five points to lead the attack and move from ninth to sixth on Geneseo's career scoring chart with 166 points. Senior midfielder Ray Ryan scored two goals with two assists and first year James Purpura added three scores for Geneseo. The Blue Knights scored the opening three goals of the game before Lycoming ripped off all four of their goals in a ten-minute span to lead 4-3 with 8:51 remaining in the second quarter. Senior Bobby King and junior Jeff Watson scored two goals and one assist and sophomore Tim Hayden netted two goals. First year Ryan Zaremba made 11 saves and allowed four goals in 51:17 of play and junior Noah Berg stopped three shots in 8:43 of action. Geneseo travels to Nazareth on Saturday.
