The Geneseo women's softball team split a pair of games today in their final games in Florida to finish 5-5 on the southern swing. In the opener on Friday, Geneseo gave up five runs in the top of the seventh inning to fall by a score of 5-2. The Blue Knights took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the sixth as Stefanie Rosenberg singled and scored on an RBI single by Patricia Callahan, who scored on an RBI single by Amy Levermore. Senior Janine Montera allowed seven hits and four earned runs with nine strikeouts over 6 2/3 innings, while Mary Boswick gave up one run on one hit with one strikeout in 1/3 innings. In the second game, Geneseo earned the split with a 5-3 win in eight innings over FDU-Florham. Junior KK Schaus hit a solo shot in the first to give Geneseo the lead and after Florham took a 2-1 lead, sophomore Lexi Williams doubled home Schaus in the sixth inning to tie the score. In the eighth, Geneseo placed leadoff hitter Kelsey Ogden on second in the tiebreaker procedure and Williams singled her home. First year Elise Porreca and Levermore followed with RBI doubles to give Geneseo a 5-2 lead. Florham scratched across one run in the bottom of eighth to make the final. Callahan was 3-4 and Bostwick scattered eight hits with two strikeouts. Geneseo resumes play on Tuesday, March 29 at Hilbert.
