Scagnelli Named All-America by AHCA

Junior defenseman Danny Scagnelli (College Point, N.Y./New York Bobcats) earned third team AHCA All-America as announced by the American Hockey Coaches Association on Thursday night at the annual awards dinner prior to the Division III Frozen Four.

Scagnelli led Geneseo defensemen and was fourth on the team in scoring seven goals and 14 assists for 21 points, which stood 21st for NCAA Division III defensemen. The Ice Knights posted a 16-8-2 record, finished second in the SUNYAC regular season and were ranked as high as sixth in the USCHO.com Division III poll.

Scagnelli becomes the 140th student-athlete at Geneseo to earn All-America and is the eighth men's ice hockey player, joining Lou Germain (1990), Chris Smith '91 (1990), Sean Cascio '90 (1990), Glen Mazurowski '91 (1991), two-time winner Mark Breeden '99 (1998, '99), Brett Walker '05 (2005) and Mitch Stephens '07 (2007).
