The Geneseo women's lacrosse team remained unbeaten on the season (5-0/1-0 SUNYAC) by recovering from an early 7-0 deficit to defeat host Fredonia by a score of 11-9. The Blue Devils exploded after the opening draw and netted the seven goals in the initial 12 minutes of the contest. Geneseo's Anna Hutchings capped an 8-1 run by tying the game at eight with four seconds left in the opening half. In the second stanza, first year Caroline Buonocore scored at 3:27 to give Geneseo a 9-8 lead and classmate Emily Haggerty converted for a 10-8 lead with 18:32 remaining. After Fredonia cut the lead with 8:22 left, Geneseo worked the clock until senior Casie Damore, who led the way with three goals and one assist, got the insurance tally with 44 seconds left. Hutchings and Buonocore finished two goals and three draw controls each, Haggerty scored twice and sophomore Lea Paris dished a pair of assists. Sophomore Rachel Petrone and Meredith Weber netted single goals and junior Johanna Trupp added three groundballs and two draws. Senior Annie Smith stopped 11 shots in posting the win in nets. Geneseo hosts Rochester on Thursday at 4 p.m.
