Sophomore Lexi Williams smashed a two-out, two-run homer to cap a six-run bottom of the seventh inning in game two of the doubleheader to lift the Geneseo women's softball team to a 9-3, 12-10 sweep of the Keuka College Storm. In the opener, Geneseo scored five times in the bottom of the sixth to break the game open as junior Kelsey Ogden went 2-4 with an RBI triple in the sixth and first year Sam Trapasso went 2-4 with two RBI for Geneseo. First year Elise Porreca was 2-3 with an RBI double in the sixth, first years Janeanne LePage and Patty Callahan went 2-3 with an RBI each and senior Megan Pogemiller was 2-4 with a double and an RBI. Senior Janine Montera picked up the win by scattering nine hits and allowing two earned runs with five strikeouts. In the second game, Keuka scored five runs in the top of the sixth to take a 10-6 lead before Geneseo exploded for six runs in the seventh. Pogemiller led off with a solo homer and Trapasso doubled. After a pair of outs, Callahan walked and Ogden smashed a two-run double to make the score 10-9. LePage singled home Ogden with the tying run and Williams lined the first pitch just inside the left field foul pole. Sophomore Katie Gallagher started in the circle and allowed seven hits and five runs with five strikeouts in 4 2/3 innings, Callahan allowed five runs on three hits and three walks in one inning and Montera picked up the win in relief by allowing just one hit with two strikeouts in 1 1/3 innings. The Blue Knights advance to 8-10 on the season and travel to Nazareth on Wednesday.
The Brockport Golden Eagles outscored Geneseo by a count of 8-1 over the final 19 minutes to stun the 20th-ranked Blue Knights, 12-9. Brockport's Carly Motondo scored the opening two goals of the game, but Geneseo first year Caroline Buonocore netted three of her four goals in the first half, including one with 37 seconds left, as Geneseo led 4-3 at the intermission. In the second period, Brockport tied the game just 2:25 into the half, but the Blue Knights responded with four straight goals to take an 8-4 lead with 22:56 left. Sophomore Sarah Brown scored three goals and one assist to lead Brockport and Motondo finished with three scores. Seniors Anna Hutchings and Lauren Burgoon scored two goals each with the former collecting six draw controls. Senior Jamie Kaminsky made five saves to post the win in goal for the Golden Eagles and senior Annie Smith made eight saves in the loss for Geneseo. The Blue Knights are 7-1 overall and 2-1 in SUNYAC and host Utica on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
