The Geneseo women's lacrosse team, ranked 20th in the latest IWLCA Division III poll, scored 11 unanswered goals on the way to a 12-1 win over visiting Utica College in a game that was called due to poor field conditions with 11:41 to play. First year Caroline Buonocore scored three goals and senior Anna Hutchings and first year Meredith Weber added two goals and one assist apiece. Sophomore Lea Paris and first year Emily Haggerty chipped in with a goal and an assist, while Rachel Petrone, Casie Damore and Megan Blaich scored once each. Senior Annie Smith picked up the win in nets by making six saves. The Blue Knights are 8-1 and travel to Oneonta on Saturday.
Senior Craig Lange scored three goals and dished out five assists to move into fourth on Geneseo's career scoring chart with 193 points to lead the host Blue Knights past the Brockport Golden Eagles, 12-9. Geneseo led 8-7 after a Brockport goal with 7:56 left in the third quarter, but the Blue Knights ripped off four consecutive goals to break open the game. Junior Brendan Kurpis netted four goals for Geneseo, senior Evan Bryant had a goal and an assist and seniors Scott Cost, Ray Ryan, Bobby King and first year John Wettack netted single tallies. Sophomore Frank DiSanti won 16-24 faceoffs and scooped seven groundballs, while sophomore Chris Topping collected seven groundballs. First year Ryan Zaremba made five saves in posting the win in goal. Brockport got two goals and one assist from Andy Hilton and four helpers from Mike Tammaro. Geneseo moves to 5-4 overall and 2-0 in SUNYAC and travels to Potsdam on Saturday.
